Biography

Dr. Michael Co graduated from The University of Hong Kong in 2006 and joined the Department of Surgery at Queen Mary Hospital in 2007. He obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013 and was awarded the GB Ong Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Li Shield’s Medal by the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong in 2013.

In 2015, he was promoted to Associate Consultant. He then joined The University of Hong Kong as a Clinical Assistant Professor, working in the Division of Breast Surgery. His main interest of research is in premalignant breast disorders and breast cancer epidemiology. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is the co-author of a book chapter in the 6th edition of the Companion to Specialist Surgical Practice series. He was awarded the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation Scholarship.

He is currently Honorary Associate Consultant at Queen Mary Hospital and Tung Wah Hospital, working as a Specialist Breast Surgeon in the Breast Center. He is also Honorary Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and helps introducing the dual tracer sentinel lymph node biopsy and oncoplastic surgery. He set up the integrated post-operative physioptherapy and nursing session in 2016 and combined lymphedema center in 2017, aiming to provide standardised holistic breast cancer care.
