The Centre
Director of Surgical Endoscopy Service: Dr. Fion Siu-Yin Chan
Head Nurse: Shuk-Ping Tsang

The Integrated Endoscopy Centre is a merger of the former Surgical and Medical Endoscopy Centres. It was officially opened in late 2008. Designed with a commitment to excellence, our centre offers comprehensive endoscopic services for a diverse range of conditions, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care. Our integrated facility combines cutting-edge technology with a team of highly skilled surgeons, gastroenterologists, nurses, and support staff.

Endoscopy staff

The centre is equipped with six main procedure rooms, including two equipped with X-ray facilities, and state-of-the-art endoscopic equipment. An anaesthetic facility is also available on-site, ensuring that patients who require general anaesthesia can undergo procedures safely. In addition to our procedure rooms, the centre houses a gastrointestinal physiology study room, with facilities enable us to perform vital tests such as Urea Breath Tests, pH monitoring as well as esophageal and anorectal manometry. For our younger patients, we also offer specialized endoscopes designed specifically for children, reflecting our commitment to catering to patients of all ages.

Our Integrated Endoscopy Centre offers:

  • Extended service hours: until 9 p.m. on weekdays, to accommodate the busy schedules of our patients.
  • On-Call Service: on-call endoscopy nurses are available 24/7, ensuring timely access to critical procedures when they are needed most.

Research and training

The Centre serves as a crucial training ground and is actively involved in postgraduate training courses, catering to both international and local digestive health societies. It provides valuable education for both trainees and nursing staff. All trainees receive hands-on training in endoscopy, guided by experienced specialists.

The Centre engages in endoscopy research, including the exploration of artificial intelligence for detecting esophageal neoplastic lesions. This initiative seeks to improve diagnostic methods and patient care. Through our research efforts, we aim to contribute positively to the field of gastrointestinal health.
