Biography
Professor John SL Leung graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a distinguished record, marked by numerous prizes, including the prestigious Nesta & John Gray Gold Medal in Surgery. Following this trajectory, he completed his specialist training in urology, where his exceptional performance was awarded the C.H. Leong Gold Medal. He holds fellowships at the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Effective 16 June 2026, Professor Leung serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at The University of Hong Kong. His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of benign and malignant urological diseases. He has developed expertise in advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques for key conditions such as urolithiasis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and a range of urological malignancies including prostate cancer, urothelial carcinoma, and renal cell carcinoma. An active participant in the wider urology community, Professor Leung devotes his time to several leading international and local professional organisations. These include the Chinese Urological Association (CUA), the European Association of Urology (EAU), the American Urological Association (AUA), the Urological Association of Asia (UAA), and the Hong Kong Urological Association (HKUA).
