Biography
Professor Victor Kung is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Hong Kong, effective 1 February 2026. He received his medical education from University of Cambridge and Imperial College London. He completed NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship and higher surgical training in General Surgery in the United Kingdom and was awarded the FRCS and Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2021. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master in Clinical Research from Queen Mary University of London, and a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge.
Following completion of specialist training, Professor Kung undertook advanced colorectal subspecialist training in complex cancer and peritoneal malignancy at St. Mark’s Hospital and St. Thomas’ Hospital (London), Peritoneal Malignancy Institute (Basingstoke), and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney).
Professor Kung is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the European Board of Surgery in Coloproctology, and holds European certification in Peritoneal Surface Oncology. He is a member of European Society of Coloproctology, Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, BASO – The Association for Cancer Surgery, and European Society of Surgical Oncology.
His interests include locally advanced and recurrent rectal cancer, peritoneal surface malignancy, their management such as pelvic exenteration and cytoreductive surgery with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS & HIPEC), in addition to minimally invasive surgery. He has published in high-impact journals, presented at international conferences, and been invited as to serve as a peer reviewer for journals.
