Biography

Professor Daniel Chan is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine, LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and Honorary Consultant at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Queen Mary Hospital.  He also serves as the Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery Board at The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong as well. 

Professor Chan graduated from The University of Hong Kong and received training in Queen Mary Hospital and Grantham Hospital. After obtaining Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery of the College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009, he pursues advance training in minimally invasive cardiac surgery in East Carolina University, USA, under the guidance of Professor Randolph Chitwood. He is a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery in Hong Kong and has performed many procedures which were first in Asia and Hong Kong including off pump beating heart mitral valve repair, convergent hybrid AF ablation, transcatheter treatment for aortic regurgitation and tricuspid valve replacement, etc. His research focuses on minimally invasive, hybrid procedure and catheter-based treatment.
