Biography

Professor Kenneth Wong is a surgeon scientist at the University of Hong Kong. He received medical degree from University of Edinburgh and his Ph.D degree in immunology and post-doc training at Imperial College, University of London. He is currently Clinical Professor and Chief of Paediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery.

He is a specialist paediatric and neonatal surgeon with main clinical interests in neonatal surgery, advanced laparoscopic/ robotic surgery, gastrointestinal and thoracic surgery. He helped set up the paediatric robotic surgery programme and also introduced single port surgery, bariatric surgery and thoracoscopic surgery in children in Hong Kong. He has been co-project leader in “Laparoscopic Workshops for Paedaitric Surgeons in China” since 2007 and has helped trained over 1400 Chinese surgeons.

The major research areas of Professor Wong include clinical applications of nanomedicine using various animal disease models, genome-wide association of childhood congenital disease, tissue repair and regeneration. Professor Wong has published over 135 papers in peer-reviewed SCI journals and has contributed to 16 book chapters. He is currently on the editorial board of 9 clinical and scientific journals and has given over 100 invited lectures worldwide.
